When using the “ghost” program for writing a blog I notice that some people don’t use the Markdown box for writing the text. They write out side the Markdown box. Does this matter? What is the advantage of writing the text within the Markdown box?
Hi @Anne markdown is sort of like a common shorthand way of formatting text that you will come across all over the internet and likewise Ghost has a couple of ways of supporting markdown.
Common formatting options in markdown include: headings, lists, bold, italic and links.
To answer your question - does it matter how you write markdown in Ghost.
The answer is no.
If you are in a post and use markdown in the editor then Ghost will respect the markdown and format accordingly.
You can also use the markdown card that is available, but that is really just an option.
To learn more about Ghost and markdown visit the Ghost Markdown guide.
Also, of interest is that this forum supports markdown too, so if you want to experiment try creating a discussion or provide a response. When you do, you will be able to see markdown in action.
